Why we built PlumbingRepairCost

Almost nobody knows what a plumbing repair should cost until they are already standing in a flooded utility room getting a number read off a clipboard. That is a bad moment to learn the going rate. We built PlumbingRepairCost so you can learn the range before you need the work, and walk into any quote knowing whether it is fair.

What we do

We publish clear price ranges for the plumbing jobs homeowners actually search for: water heater replacement, drain cleaning, repiping, slab leak repair, sump pump installation, and more. Each page shows a national range, the factors that move it, and the questions to ask so you can compare quotes like for like. Every figure is cited to published industry cost data on our methodology page.

Who we are

The site is written and maintained by the PlumbingRepairCost editors and published by Kindred Works LLC. We are not plumbers and we do not pretend to be. We are researchers who read the cost guides, the manufacturer documentation, and the contractor pricing so you do not have to, and we cite what we find. When a job needs a licensed professional, we say so.

How we build a cost page

For each repair, we start with the published cost guides that homeowners and contractors actually reference, then cross-check the figures against one another. When two reputable sources disagree, we show the wider range and name both rather than split the difference and pretend to a precision the data does not support. We break out labor from parts wherever the source allows, because the labor share is where quotes diverge most, and we call out the hidden add-ons, like a corroded shutoff or a required permit, that turn a simple job into a bigger one. Then we pair the numbers with the questions to ask, so the page helps you at the quote, not just at the search bar.

How we stay independent

The site is free to homeowners. When you ask to compare quotes, we connect you with independent, licensed plumbers who pay us for the introduction; you never pay us, and it never changes your price. We are not a plumbing contractor and we do not dispatch crews. Our disclosure explains exactly how the site is funded.
